And so we begin investigating the world of stamps

Journal Entry: Tue May 13, 2008, 6:17 PM
One of my former students has just finished doing graphics for a campaign at Princeton against anonymous hate speech in all of its forms. They include physical acts of hate speech, such as graffiti and defacing campus posters, to the widely rampant practice of abuse and negativity on the Internet, where people are able to hurl all sorts of unkindnesses at one another while hiding behind a pseudonym or simply being flat out anonymous.

One web site that clearly explains their philosophy is ownwhatyouthink . com ([link]), and their T-shirt slogan was "anonymity=cowardice", so I put both of those bylines on my very first ever stamp:

If you agree with their ideals, feel free to spread the word.

And I'm already passing it along to my students, who if I'm lucky, may forgive me for doing so.

I don't know if it exactly counts as "revenge," it was too much fun to do. :bounce:

I have tagged you. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I agree. I have decent sized tower speakers with a 360º dispersal ribbon tweeters - so, yeah! XD Isn't the Wannamaker's organ a thing of power and beauty. I love the console!! I love those multi-colored stop tabs.

Yup, same piece. "Tu es petrus" word-for-word translated is "you are [the] rock." I think that's on the Wanamaker album--well worth owning. And cranking as loud as your stereo/neighbors will allow.
*Passacaglia28:iconPassacaglia28: Apr 12, 2008, 8:20:12 PM
Oh. I actually meant that Virgil Fox has played Tu Es Petrus. I have an MP3 of it. Except it is titled, "Thou Art THe Rock (Byzantine Sketches)

Some of his performances have made there way onto Youtube. There was an interview with Virgil Fox on Youtube where he talked about the organ at Wannamaker's Department store. That was an awesome organ!

I always thought that he should have played it, too. I could imagine him not getting in to use it or to record on it because of his... lifestyle choices, to paint them with a broad brush; perhaps one of his biographers or intimates knows whether it ever happened, even if it was unrecorded. I'm sorry he passed on long before YouTube came along, because you know for darned sure that if such technology existed then, he'd have appeared on it.
*Passacaglia28:iconPassacaglia28: Apr 11, 2008, 8:07:32 PM
I love to hear Virgil Fox play that one.

Cool! Thanks!

While I was at YouTube, it referred me to a great recording of the Mulet Tu Es Petrus, also one of my favorites, on the MT organ. I tried to learn that piece once...it's hard.
*Passacaglia28:iconPassacaglia28: Apr 9, 2008, 9:15:20 PM
This song is so powerful! It is played on the organ at The Mormon Tabernacle of... something. LOL I forgot. I think E. Power Biggs played there once. Here is that link you requested. Enjoy: [link]

I'm actually quite happy to see that Takahashi, in the current issues of the manga, may be sending ol' Fluffy down some very similar roads. We'll see how things pan out...

I loved Rin and Sesshomaru. Although i just can't see Sesshomaru acting that way, but I loved it none th less.

Another difference between the two is, according to my teacher, the Federation style concentrates on the form, and hopes that the form will lead you to the truth. The muyo style encourages you to find the truth, and hopes that the truth will lead you to the form. Which for me, works much better; I'm much more of an "internal art" person.
