As promised, actual music

And as promised, here's a recording of the premiere of my latest piece. If the link doesn't work, just go to my website at robertparkermusic.com [link] and follow the links on the front page.

Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord for mezzo soprano, handbells, and organ, conducted by the composer, at its premiere at Oneonta Congregational Church. [link]

Enjoy!

Music, music...

Sat Dec 19, 2009, 5:55 PM
Just finished a nice and simple "just add water" solo for myself, to be sung on 1/3 of next year. ("Next year!" Still sounds so far away...)

I'm conducting the premiere of another work tomorrow, for mezzo, handbells, and organ. I have every confidence that it's gonna be just wonderful.

Of course I'm nervous.

We're going to record it; I'll post that if it comes out well.

Still waiting for news from the computer hospital about my sick machine. I miss it, plus it's got all sorts of software that I use all the time and I want it back!

Although it is excellent testimony to why I buy my equipment from this vendor... The machine's three-year warranty expired in 2004, and this is the first time it has had any sort of really significant problem. Only one failure in what, eight years? On a Windows machine? If that isn't proof positive of a kind and loving deity, I don't know what is.

Boned

Mon Dec 7, 2009, 8:52 PM
My five-year-old computer, that has done so much marvelous work for me over the years, just gave up the ghost. It came back to life, briefly, last night; and it's gone again now.

Oh well. Maybe installing Windows 7 will bring it back to life. But, for now, it's dead.

And what I wanted to do on it tonight... well, I guess I ain't doin' it. Guess I've got the night off. I may be able to do a little tweaking tomorrow, I don't really have to fix it until the show opens Thursday.

But still. I like this machine. It's done me a lot of good. Maybe a new OS will revive it (without, I hope, having to reinstall all the stuff I'm still counting on.

Sic transit gloria mundi. :sadangel:

Sucked dry

They call the last week before the show goes up "Hell Week" for a reason.

It has already started. It's already hell.

I'm quite behind on the music, but done or not, I'm calling it a night. Tomorrow, hanging the lights, cuing the show, coming home and writing more music. Sunday, Open House, writing more music.

Dang, I'm tired.

Must remember, we do this because it's fun. :fork:
